Team India’s number 3 Cheteshwar Pujara failed to add any runs to his overnight score of nine as he left on the second ball of play on day three of the third test match at Newlands in Cape Town. Pacemaker Marco Jansen attacked the rib cage with the new ball and made Pujara uncomfortable when the batsman guided it up the side of the leg behind the stumps. Keegan Petersen, who was standing in the region of the leg slide, jumped to his right and took a diving catch with one hand to end Pujara’s innings early.

Here’s the video of Petersen’s epic catch:

It was the second day in a row that a wicket had fallen on the second ball of the day’s play. On Day 2, Aiden Markram was sent back by Indian pacemaker Jasprit Bumrah on his second ball of the day’s first over.

The script could not have been better written for the home team, as Kagiso Rabada followed Pujara’s sacking and sent back Ajinkya Rahane, who fell in love with a single race in his name.

In the early innings, South Africa showed flashes of a fight against an inspired lineup of Indian bowlers, but that didn’t last long. Bumrah took a fabulous haul of five wickets on Day 2 to help India take a significant 13-run lead in the first innings.

India started the day at 57/2, leading Proteas by 70 runs in the second inning.

All hopes will be pinned on captain Kohli as Team India looks to post a formidable goal for South Africa to chase in the fourth innings.
