As expected, James Harden is coming back to Philadelphia.

Harden has reached agreement on a two-year, $68.6 million contract to return to the 76ers, USA TODAY Sports confirmed.

ESPN and Yahoo Sports first reported news of the contract. The deal includes a player option for the 2023-24 season, ESPN reported.

The contract represents a significant reduction in salary for Harden. On the eve of free agency, he declined to exercise his $47.3 million player option for 2022-23.

Harden signaled his intention to work with the Sixers on a new deal that would give the team more financial flexibility to make improvements to the roster this offseason.
