Actress Dia Mirza said that after reaching a stage of age, the opportunities for working for actresses start decreasing because filmmakers and some of the above 50-year-old actors prefer to work with younger heroines.
Returning to Rajkumar Hirani’s “Sanju” on the silver screen after six years, Diya believes that the film industry is not so comfortable with the actresses who have crossed the age of 30 years. He said, “Unfortunately for the female artists who have already crossed the age of 30, opportunities get reduced because some filmmakers want to cast young actresses and most male artists who have stopped 50 They also want to work with young talent. ”
Giving examples of past-generation actress Sharmila Tagore, Waheeda Rehman and Smita Patil, Dia said that today artists need to pursue themselves and explore possibilities. These famous actresses of the era were getting films even after marriage.
36-year-old Diya said that she waited for the right role and never accepted roles which she did not like. He said, “After I completed the Iranian film, I waited for two and a half years for a trusted filmmaker to offer me to work in the film. In December 2016, I received a call from Rajkumar Hirani for ‘Sanju‘. I was going to spend the holidays at that time. Raju Sir asked me to come to the office because he wanted to tell me the story of the film.
The actress said she was excited to work again in films because acting in movies was “ghadiyah”. However, Dia did not make any film for six years but she said that during this time she did not do as much hard work as did in that whole career. Diya is now waiting for the release of Sanjay Dutt‘s biopic “Sanju” in which he plays Dutt’s wife, recognition. The film will be released on June 29.
