The 12th season of the Indian Premier League starts in March instead of April. In the year 2019, the Lok Sabha elections are to be held in India, along with the beginning of the ICC World Cup in England from May 30. In such a situation, the BCCI will not have any option other than getting the IPL first, as per the recommendations of the Lodha committee, the board will have to finish the IPL 15 days before any World Cup.
According to resources, the 12th season of the IPL may start from March 29. In the year 2009 and 2014, due to the Lok Sabha elections in India, the IPL was held outside India. The IPL was held in South Africa in 2009, the first 19-day action was done in the UAE in 2014.
“Every season of IPL is of Billion Dollars, much of the people associated with this league are at stake, besides the people of the league who want to make IPL in India.”
The last three elections in the Lok Sabha have happened in the months of April and May. Even the elections in 2014 were made in nine phases. This time too, the election is expected to be in the same way.
With the IPL being abroad, the BCCI does not have such a big advantage and the board will have to set the IPL program in view of the elections. It can also mean that next year the IPL will be organized in new cities. This will increase the popularity of cricket, but at the same time, the team’s strategy will also have an impact, which prepares their entire team according to their home grounds.
According to the media report, if the IPL does not happen in India next year, then once again the BCCI can organize the world’s largest league in the UAE.
