The West Indies cricket team has been announced for the 3 Test matches against Sri Lanka. Left-handed batsman Devon Smith has got a place in the team after three years. The 13-member squad will be captained by Jason Holder while two wicket-keepers have been included in the squad as Shane Dauveerik and Jahram Hamilton. Apart from this, players like Craig Brathwaite, Devender Bishu, and Kemar Roach have been included in the team.
“We have kept the core team that has taken part in the Test series against New Zealand,” West Indies Cricket Team’s selection committee chairman, Courtney Browne told reporters. Devon Smith was included in the team because his performance in domestic cricket was fantastic.
Brown said that we want to improve our batting line-up and keeping this in mind, this team has been selected. He further said that Jaham Hamilton’s performance has been spectacular in the last three years and he also did well against England Lions. This is the reason that he got a place in the team.
Significantly, Devon Smith scored 1095 runs in domestic cricket at an average of 84.23. During this time, he also scored 6 centuries. Sri Lanka’s team will tour the West Indies in June, where they have to play 3 Test matches. The first Test match starts in Trinidad from July 6.
