Sol Campbell has posted a list of his footballing achievements on twitter in anger after not being named in this year’s New Year Honors list.
The former Arsenal and Tottenham defender said he had seen ‘a lot of people’ get MBEs, OBEs and knighthoods for services to sport, and made it clear he felt he should be among them.
Other footballing stars made the list, with Leah Williamson, Beth Mead, Ellen White and Lucy Bronze all recognized after their role in the Lionesses’ success at the Euros.

The defender played for Arsenal and Tottenham in an illustrious two-decade career
The list faced some criticism, as fans argued that more of Sarina Wiegman’s side should have been named after their historic win.
Campbell gave eight reasons why he should make the cut, as he tweeted: ‘I’ve seen many people get an MBE OBE Sir for services to sport I’ll put my name to the reasons why!
‘First was the 56 games without defeat, [it] is a record. Two, unbeaten Arsenal team 49 games without defeat, a record. Three, first black player to score in a World Cup Final for England!’

The third point left some fans scratching their heads as Campbell has never played in a World Cup final, although his only England goal came in the World Cup final against Sweden in 2002.
He continued: ‘Four, first black captain to lift the cup at Wembley. Lima, first black English-speaking player to score in the finals of the champions league.
‘Six, I played two decades and over 500 games in the premiership. Seven, stood up for racism in football here and abroad!’

‘Eight, only English player can play in six consecutive tournaments for England. Nine, made the best World Cup team in 1998 and 2002 and a European team in 2004 so at one stage I was half a kilo off the best defender in the world how many English men can say that?’
Campbell’s rant was labeled ‘weird’ by one fan, while another added: ‘This is what happens when you surround yourself with people who don’t challenge your ridiculous opinions.’
A notable absence from the 48-year-old’s list of achievements is his short managerial career, which most recently saw him leave Southend in 2020 when they were relegated after winning just four of 23 games under him.
