Gabby Agbonlahor insists Manchester United should aim to be part of the title race and back them to push Arsenal to the top of the Premier League table.
United were in impressive form on Tuesday night as they swept past Bournemouth with a 3-0 win at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Casemiro, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford.
The victory leaves Erik ten Hag’s side in fourth place in the league, level on points with Newcastle and just one point behind rivals Man City in second.
Gabriel Agbonlahor has told talkSPORT that Man Utd should look to be in the title race
Erik ten Hag’s side should be looking to push Arsenal to the top of the Premier League, says former Villa star Agbonlahor
Speaking to talkSPORT this morning, Agbonlahor believes United need to be taken seriously now as title contenders and says they must find the title race.
‘I said it last week, I said Manchester United should be looking at a title race’ said the former Aston Villa striker.
‘Everyone thinks you’re crazy for what you said, but why not? One point behind Manchester City today, nine points behind Arsenal, Arsenal can still drop points. Manchester United must look at pushing Arsenal.’
A win against Bournemouth on Tuesday means United are just one point behind Man City
The win over Bournemouth was United’s fourth in a row, and their third straight clean sheet since returning to action after the World Cup break.
United’s fitting three goal-scorers against the Cherries, have been key factors in the Red Devils’ recent good form.
Casemiro has been seen as a huge success since his £60million move from Real Madrid last summer, while Luke Shaw is back to his best – and even covering at centre-back.
Marcus Rashford scored his 12th goal of the season in a 3-0 win over Bournemouth
Then there’s Marcus Rashford, who has doubled his goal tally since last season and is currently one of the Premier League’s best players.
His strike on Tuesday was his 12th goal of the season and means he has scored in every United game since returning from World Cup duty in England.
The next ten Hags face off in a cup double, as they take on Everton in the FA Cup Third Round on Friday and then face League One side Charlton in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup next week.
