Fans on social media were in disbelief when Big Bash League side Sydney Thunder scored the lowest run total in T20 history.
The Australian team hit a lowly 15 runs off just 35 balls in the loss to the Adelaide Strikers to write their name in the history books for all the wrong reasons.
Chasing a total of 140 at the Sydney Showground Stadium, Thunder were eliminated thanks to five wickets in three balls from Henry Thornton and just 35 balls in total.
The Sydney Thunder were really embarrassed and fans called it a disgrace online
Turkey’s humiliating total of 21 all out against the Czech Republic in 2019 was the lowest score recorded in the short format of the game.
Fans were quick to take to Twitter to mock the pathetic score from the team, with one post saying: ‘Shame on Sydney Thunder…all out for 15…’
That theme of humiliation continued with another account saying: ‘This is really embarrassing and pitiful Sydney Thunder’. Attaching an animated GIF of someone blushing a little to hammer the point home.
Fans took to social media to share their views on the embarrassing score from the Sydney Thunder
One felt fans should get their money back and tweeted: ‘What a shame, refund the ticket price.’
Some could not believe what they saw and said: What did I see? A professional cricket team, Sydney Roar all out for 15. That’s a shame.’
Others further lambasted the team with one user calling them a ‘disgrace’, but found a positive in the unwanted record by recognizing the publicity the Big Bash League would get on the back of the match.
They posted: ‘Wow wow just…Sydney Thunder – what a disgrace!! The upside is the BBL will get international attention because of their really pathetic performance.’
