Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes publicly criticized the referee’s decisions in their 0-0 draw with Newcastle United on Tuesday night.
The 25-year-old Brazilian took to Twitter to post a clip of Magpies defender Dan Burn pulling his shirt inside the box using a ‘face palm’ emoji to indicate he was shocked by the decision not to provided.
It was one of two potential penalties that could have been awarded to the Gunners, as Newcastle became the first team to stop Mikel Arteta’s side from scoring so far this season.

The first claim came from Gabriel’s incident, as an Arsenal free-kick was played in the box, with Gabriel eventually going under Burn’s challenge.
The Gunners protested, however, they were waved off – but that didn’t stop the defender from posting a replay of the foul at midnight after they dropped two vital points in their quest for the Premier League title.
Then Granit Xhaka’s cross hit the arm of Jacob Murphy – like Gabriel, boss Arteta was furious with the decisions in the match.

‘There were two scandalous penalties,’ the Arsenal manager said after the match.
‘It’s a punishment or it’s not a punishment and it’s both punishments.’
Pundits also agreed that Arsenal should have been awarded at least one spot kick during the match, which could have moved them 10 points ahead of second-placed Manchester City in the title race.
Paul Merson said: ‘I can’t make a case for it [being a penalty],’ he said. ‘I am disappointed if that is given against me. I think the Burn tug is more punishment for me.’

Gary Neville and Les Ferdinand agreed with Merson’s assessment of the Burn tug, with both admitting that Arsenal had legitimate reasons to feel aggrieved by VAR’s inaction.
‘I think that’s a stonewall penalty,’ said Merson. ‘His fist is clenched. That’s a foul anywhere on the pitch. We have found bookings that are cheaper tonight.’
‘I don’t understand how that is not clear and obvious. This is a clear punishment. He has got hold of his shirt,’ agreed former Newcastle forward Ferdinand.
‘If the players collide, you can understand the referees waving it in the box. But if you hold someone’s shirt and it’s as clear as day, it’s a punishment.’
Neville added: ‘The VAR officials including Howard Webb have been told not to get involved unless you have to.
‘Arteta has every right to be annoyed with that one. Newcastle were very lucky there. I think they (Arsenal) have every right to feel aggrieved.
