Ulaanbaatar Cup: Boxer Sonia and Mandeep in Final, Shiv Thapa won the bronze medal

Silver medalist who won a silver medal in the World Cup, 57 kg and Mandeep Jangra reached the finals of Ulaanbaatar Cup boxing tournament in Mongolia. This year’s Indian Open winner, Lavillina Borgoehi has already reached the final of the 69 kg weight category.

Shiv Thapa lost in the 60kg semifinals and had to be content with the bronze medal. Bina Devi Koizumi was successful in winning a bronze medal in 48 kg category.

Sonia, who was twice world and Asian champion, defeated China’s Tiantiyan Zhao in the semi-finals. In the first round, Sonia’s performance in front of Zhao’s punch was weak, but in the second and third round, she made a quick comeback and made the match in her favor. In the final, they will be competing against their local player Turukyag Bolorotul.

Lavalina maintained an edge over Anchart Ardentia in the other semi-finals and was successful in winning the match. They will face Chinese Taipei’s Nina Chen Chen in the title match.

Mandeep won the silver medal in men’s 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, defeated local player Teesant Aishash Otgaon-Erdene in the semi-finals. Shiva Thapa, who won the medal in World and Asian Championship, did well, but the judge was not impressed with his game.
