Dhananjay D. Silva, the key batsman of the Sri Lankan team, will soon join his team in the West Indies. 26-year-old De Silva withdrew his name from West Indies tour after the assassination of his father. However, now he is ready to join the team once again. The Sri Lankan team is currently on a tour of West Indies for a three-Test series.
Sri Lankan team’s chief selector Graham Labrouy told Crickbridge, “Dhananjay D Silva can be a part of the team in the first Test against the West Indies in Port of Spain on June 6. Though the decision to feed them is on top of the team management. Dhananjay will arrive there after a very long flight, and it may take time to adjust to the situation there. That is why he Decided the team will be managed. ”
D Silva’s father was killed in Mount Lavinia a few hours before the Sri Lankan team left for West Indies. He was declared dead as soon as he was taken to the hospital. Dhananjay D Silva has played 13 Test matches for Sri Lanka and he made a comeback to the national team against India last year. The Sri Lankan team managed to draw the Delhi Test through their unbeaten century in the second innings. He continued this fantastic form in the series against Bangladesh and also put a century in the Chittagong Test.
Sri Lanka will benefit quite a lot because of joining Dhananjay D Silva‘s team because they are running very well in the form. Apart from this, the team’s regular opener Dimut Karunaratne will not be able to become part of this series due to injury to the finger. The Sri Lankan team has given chance to many new players on this tour.
